Sound up!! The beautiful crackle of the woodfired kiln. The crackling sound, the smell of smoke and the smell of fresh cut wood this is why we love woodfiring!
We are at 1200 degrees on day 2 and 2 more days to go to get some lovely ash on the pots.

I'm here at @geoffthomasthekilnshed and we are just starting to get things started for Geoff's 2026 firing in his anagama. We will be stoking this beast for the next 4 days around the clock. Then the kiln will be left to cool down for a week or so after we finish then cracked open 👀👀Can't wait to see the results 😀

I found these beautiful leaves from the Emperess tree. They are so big! So I decided to make a platter from them using the leaf veins as decoration. By pressing the leaf into the clay it leaves an impression that will be enhanced with the right glaze. I'm going to use a traditional celadon glaze.
