It was a pleasure to create this 14 piece plate and bowl set for a customer of mine. I'm very happy with the results.
This set has my favorite glaze Nuka.
Nuka is a traditional Japanese glaze created centuries ago utilizing rice husk ash from rice fields.

I'm making a big dish that will be the top tier of a 3 tier water feature that I have been commissioned to make.
This is 4kgs of clay. You have to be careful not to open up the form too quickly as it will collapse if it doesn't have the right support at the bottom of the pot wall. I always start by throwing the wall inwards and then bring it out when it has the right thickness. 👍😬

Trying out the new throwing technique I learned from the @godinc247 Aaron Scythe workshop. Man this is fun! Very different to my regular style, I love going in the opposite direction, have done most of my life 😁 #nonconformist feeling right at home. Bending the rules enough to have some fun without @#$&ing it up. 😁👍🔥

Earth and Fire Studio will be closed this weekend.
I am off to fire the Groundhog wood kiln @strathnairnarts after packing it last weekend.
This kiln will be stoked with wood for 3 days so the kiln crew will need to take shifts around the clock.
Woodfiring your pots gives them a unique look due to the wood ash travelling through the kiln, and the path of the flame creates beautiful toasted flashing on the pots.
I am hoping to pull some gems out of the kiln in a week after it has cooled down.
