All care will be taken but no responsibility will be taken for cracked pots or broken pots.
Firing ceramics can be quite variable and accidents can happen. The physical changes that happen
to pots in the kiln can cause cracking a breakages if the pot is not constructed properly or it has structural weaknesses.
Glaze application must not be on the base of the pot, if you glaze your pot on the bottom and by some way it is missed by the kiln operator and your pot sticks to the kiln shelf you will be
responsible for replacing the kiln shelf at a minimum cost of $100.
If your glaze is known to run in any circumstances you will need to provide a kiln setter for under
the pot to ensure the protection of our equiptment.
You are required to bring in the packaging of the glazes you will be using for us to check the firing temperature.
We are able to fire to stoneware (1300 degrees) or mid fire (1220 degrees).
We do not do earthenware (1100 degrees) unless you have a whole kiln load.
There may be delays in mid fired glaze firings as we will need a full kiln load to fire it.
If you need your work by a certain deadline please let us know and we can figure out a price if need be.
All pots that are to be fired in the Earth & Fire Kilns must be bisqued fired first. No raw glazing.
The proper glazing and construction of pots brought in to be fired is the responsibility of the maker.
Any damage to our equiptment due to poor glazing or construction will be the responibility of the maker.
If you have no prior knowledge of making and glazing please complete our 5 week course to learn how make to glaze pots.
